“Former Iowa wrestler Brent Metcalf scored a second-round technical fall to beat Bubba Jenkins 2-0, 6-0 in the 66-kilogram freestyle match at the Beat the Streets Gala on Thursday aboard the USS Intrepid in New York City.
Metcalf, a two-time national champ, met former Penn State star Jenkins four times in college. Metcalf won all four matches.”

Cameron Croy from Brentwood High school was the first 4x champion of the 41 year old tournament. He did this while earning his 100th win.
Brentwood’s State runner-up Blake Thomas and Soddy’s sophomore State Champion Campbell Lewis won their first titles by pinning their way through the tournament.
Junior Caleb Erwin from Union County, last years champ at 130 and currently ranked 19th in the country at 135 by Intermat, beat 2x state champion Michael Hooker of McCallie. Erwin was voted Best Wrestler of the tournament.

Pope High School, located in Marietta, Georgia, locked up the 2009 McCallie Invitational title with a total of 285 points, more than 85 points more than the second place team, Father Ryan, who finished a strong tournament with 197 points.
Some other teams, along with Pope, brought in some out of state talent. At 140, Ryan Maus from Kennesaw High School first majored 2x State Champion Stuart Doster of Baylor in the semis, then went on to beat State Champion Michael Hooker from McCallie 6-1 in the finals. 3x Champ TJ Duncan from McCallie fought off numerous takedown attempts by Kennesaw’s other finalist Johnathan Rivera to pull off a 3-2 win at 152.

The Bradley Central Bears sent the Ooltewah Owls back down South Lee Highway with their feathers clipped. after wining 12 of the 14 weight classes to win 63-12.
The marquee match up of the night was between Bradley’s Tucker Bolton (ranked 3rd) and Ooltewah’s Tyler Toon (ranked 4th) at the 215 lb weight class. After the 1st period, Toon was leading 4-1 and after two, Toon was leading 5-3. In the third, Bolton got a take down and then pinned Toon at 5:15 of the match.

(December 8, 2009) On a stormy night in Evenville, Tennessee the Bradley Central Bears showed why they are ranked number two in the state by beating Region 3 foe Rhea County Eagles 73-6.

The big match up of the night was between two state ranked wrestler at 140 lbs. Bradley Colbaugh (BC) lead after one period 2-0 but by the end of the second period Quintom Carter (RC) had tied it up at 3-3. Colbaugh hd a take down in the third and the match ended with Colbaugh winnig by a score of 5-3.
At 125 lbs, Bradley’s JV Aaron Hutson stood in for an ill Tyler Pitts.
