Get your DVRs ready! The Big Ten Network will be doing a profile of Dan Gable on Big Ten Icons. It will air tonight – Tuesday, October 11th, 2011, at 8:00pm EDT, and again at 11:30pm EDT. It will then air again on October 22nd at 4:00pm EDT. Here is a promo for tonight’s show:

This is some great freestyle wrestling. Sanderson comes out on top Dec 4-1,2-0 and Dec 5-2,2-0 to advance to the Worlds. They will be held on Sept. 12-18 in Istanbul, Turkey.

Metcalf vs Caldwell: The rematch

Well, this is actually the 3rd rematch, but hey, who is counting. This one should be good. They will be wrestling freestyle, which makes it even more exciting. Caldwell is coming back from shoulder surgery, that put him out for the 2009-2010 season. Hopefully he is fully healed. If not, I doubt this will be much of a match.

It is on an aircraft carrier called the U.S.S Intrepid. Yes, you read that correctly, an aircraft carrier. The event is a fundraiser for Beat the Streets Wrestling, inc, “a program that provides wrestling opportunities for thousands of middle school and high school students in New York City.”

Metcalf vs Caldwell will be the main event of a seven match line-up, including names like Palmer, Herbert, Askren, and many more. Oh yeah, and Royce Alger will be providing entertainment. That will be interesting.

Wrestling Clip of the Week – Short Time Drill from Flowrestling

This clip shows Brands leading his team in a ‘short time’ drill. The scenario is that both guys are considered behind in points and they have a short time (looks like about 15-20 seconds) to score.

You can hear Brands yell “score to a score”, meaning that they shouldn’t just stop with a takedown. The wrestler needs to go directly into another scoring combination while there is still time. This just shows the mentality of a champion wrestlers, which is to never stop wrestling and scoring until the final whistle blows!
