Thursday, June 19, 2008 0 comments

D1collegewrestling.net breaks down the 2008 college recruiting class is this great article where they rank the top 20.  There are a few surprises in there, with Rutgers being the number 2 ranked recruiting class.  It looks like they have a lot of the great wrestlers from New Jersey.  Nine state titles and 2 Senior national champs will make Rutgers a force to be reckoned with.

UTC is ranked in the top 25 - Coach Bono is putting together a great team!  I cannot wait to see what he does with them this year.

Take a look at the top 20 college wrestling recruiting classes of 2008!

Video series follows Tommy Rowlands on his quest for the Olympics

Thursday, June 05, 2008 0 comments

Tommy Rowlands, a former two-time NCAA champion wrestler for Ohio State and current Buckeye volunteer assistant coach, captured the U.S. national freestyle heavyweight championship for the second year in a row last month in Las Vegas.

That title grants Rowlands, NCAA champion in 2002 and ’04, a bye into the 2008 Olympic Trials heavyweight finals, which is an 8-minute, best-of-three rounds match that will determine who will represent the U.S. at the Games in Beijing.

Rowlands currently is training for the trials finals, held June 16 back in Las Vegas. He will spend several weeks in Columbus, working with various sparring partners at the Steelwood Athletic Training Facility near the Ohio State campus.

In this series, OhioStateBuckeyes.com will follow Rowlands during his intense, two-a-day training sessions leading up to the trials.

Saturday, May 31, 2008 0 comments

I found this article, written by By Steve Hanson at Artipot.com, discussing how to improve athletic conditioning by understanding your body type.  Ectomorphic, Mesomorphic, and Endomorphic body types are discussed.  Also, training and diet that can be used for best results for each type are explained.

I thought this could help some of the wrestlers working hard this summer to gain some muscle mass and strength.
