from the Missourian
Former Tennessee Wrestler Nick Marable, from Christian Brothers High School and now Missouri University, was quoted in a recent Missouri wrestling article from the Missourian. The article describes how these college wrestlers are preparing for the upcoming season. Wheelbarrow races, buddy carries, and stadium runs are just a few of the grueling exercises these guys are putting themselves through.
“This stuff is just so different from any other sport,” two-time All American senior Nick Marable said. “It’s so much more disciplined, so much more work. I’ve gotten a lot of talk from football players about how they respect us so much for how hard we work.”
Take a look at the images in the article that show these wrestlers working out.

Sanderson is building a powerhouse. Penn State has recently signed “four of the nation’s top high school wrestlers” having a total of six state titles between them. This just adds to the tough team Sanderson is putting together with a strong incoming recruiting class, including 2009 Dave Schultz High School Excellence Award winner David Taylor.

One of my wrestlers sent this over to me today. It is a video done by flowrestling on the mental aspect of wrestling and focuses on some the greatest minds in the country at Harvard. I thought there were some great points to take away from this in training your mind and making yourself mentally tough.
Harvard head coach Jay Weiss talks about how his team prepares to win, using visualization and writing out reasons they should succeed and obstacles that stand in their way. I like how the video starts off with a few of the most successful wrestlers/coaches discussing the percentage the mind plays in the sport of wrestling.
